Ruffino Meats and Food Service, a Texas-based family-owned and operated company, provides fresh and frozen meats, frozen foods, produce, cheese, seafood, disposables, and restaurant equipment/supplies to restaurants throughout Texas.
They are especially active in Houston barbecue, providing beef, pork, and sausage products to many of the barbecue restaurants participating in the 5th annual Houston Barbecue Festival.
The Ruffino story started in 1960, when John Ruffino and his wife Virginia opened the Readfield Meat Company in Bryan, Texas. They were from similar backgrounds; both came from Italian families who migrated to the Brazos River Valley to farm and raise livestock.
Today, sons Richard, Larry, and Roland Ruffino continue to uphold the high standards established by their father. Larry’s son, Paul, is a fixture at many of Houston’s best barbecue joints, providing customized products and services to the city’s pitmasters.
Paul Ruffino has been a long-time supporter of HOUBBQ events, and decided to make it official by bringing his family’s company on board as a sponsor this year.
