After several years at NRG Park, the Houston Barbecue Festival is moving its 2018 smoke-out to Humble on Sunday, April 15. According to the organizers, the new location, 20 minutes north of downtown on U.S. 59, offers additional amenities including free parking, restrooms, covered areas in case of inclement weather, and more affordable drinks. One of my favorite events on the calendar is the Houston BBQ Festival. The barbecue scene in Houston has exploded and rivals Austin now. The festival showcases what Houston BBQ has to offer. The event moved location this year from the parking lots of NRG stadium to the Humble Civic Center. Link

Attendees of this year’s Houston Barbecue Festival get to taste samples from about 28 restaurants that offer not only traditional favorites but also some of the most unusual and flavorful smoked meat creations in the country. In Texas, brisket is king, but guests can expect to also be able to try lamb, barbacoa, whole hog, specialty housemade sausages, and unique side dishes. Link
